A Class of Poverty Measures Induced by the Dual Decomposition of Aggregation Functions
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we introduce a new family of poverty measures for comparing and ordering social situations. The aggregation scheme of these poverty measures is based on the oneparameter family of exponential means. The poverty measures introduced satisfy interesting properties and the dual decomposition of the underlying exponential means induces a natural decomposition of the proposed poverty indices themselves into three underlying factors: incidence, intensity, and inequality among the poor.

The dual decomposition of aggregation functions and its application in welfare economics
In this paper, we review the role of self-duality in the theory of aggregation functions, the dual decomposition of aggregation functions into a self-dual core and an anti-self-dual remainder, and some applications to welfare, inequality, and poverty measures. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. متن کاملThe decompositions of rank-dependent poverty measures using ordered weighted averaging operators
This paper concerns with rank-dependent poverty measures and shows that an ordered weighted averaging, hereafter OWA, operator is underlying in the definition of these indices. The dual decomposition of an OWA operator into the self-dual core and the anti-self-dual remainder allows us to propose a decomposition for all the rank-dependent poverty measures in terms of incidence, intensity and ine...
متن کاملON THE FUZZY SET THEORY AND AGGREGATION FUNCTIONS: HISTORY AND SOME RECENT ADVANCES
Several fuzzy connectives, including those proposed by Lotfi Zadeh, can be seen as linear extensions of the Boolean connectives from the scale ${0,1}$ into the scale $[0,1]$. We discuss these extensions, in particular, we focus on the dualities arising from the Boolean dualities. These dualities allow to transfer the results from some particular class of extended Boolean functions, e.g., from c...
متن کاملThe gini index, the dual decomposition of aggregation functions, and the consistent measurement of inequality
In several economic fields, such as those related to health, education or poverty, the individuals’ characteristics are measured by bounded variables. Accordingly, these characteristics may be indistinctly represented by achievements or shortfalls. A difficulty arises when inequality needs to be assessed. One may focus either on achievements or on shortfalls but the respective inequality rankin...
متن کاملA comprehensive experimental comparison of the aggregation techniques for face recognition
In face recognition, one of the most important problems to tackle is a large amount of data and the redundancy of information contained in facial images. There are numerous approaches attempting to reduce this redundancy. One of them is information aggregation based on the results of classifiers built on selected facial areas being the most salient regions from the point of view of classificati...
